How to Join OpenAjax Alliance
The primary reasons for joining the OpenAjax Alliance are to contribute to the committees and to gain early access to information about committee work.
At this time, there are no fees.
Membership in the Alliance is intended to be broadly available to all organizations or individuals with a demonstrated interest and commitment to the Purpose of OpenAjax Alliance. (Note: The Purpose of OpenAjax Alliance is formally defined as the development, enhancement, and promotion of programming technologies and techniques based on HTML-based browsers, Javascript, HTTP, or other specifications to provide robust and effective client Internet interactions, including the publication of Alliance roadmaps, Specifications, testing materials, and sample implementations that can be used to promote OpenAjax programming technologies and techniques.)
Instructions for companies and non-profit organizations
The following are the steps by which your organization can join the OpenAjax Alliance:
- Print out the OpenAjax Alliance Members Agreement (PDF format).
- Review, fill out all fields, and have an appropriate officer of your organization sign the Agreement.
- Send the original signed agreement via conventional mail or overnight mail to:

- Send an email to Jon Ferraiolo (jferrai@us.ibm.com) which provides the following information:
- Primary contact person for your organization (name, mailing address, email, phone#, mobile#, fax#).
- Your organization's home page URL and mailing address.
- Names and email addresses for all people from your organization who will be participating in the alliance.
- For each person, which committees they will join. Right now, we have the following committees:
- Wait for notice of approval. After the Steering Committee approves your application for membership, you will receive an email
welcoming you to the OpenAjax Alliance with orientation instructions.
Instructions for individuals
On an exceptional basis, the Steering Committee will consider granting Membership to an individual who meets the following criteria:
- has an established track record of involvement and contribution to the
Ajax community, and/or has experience and expertise of specific interest to
the OpenAjax Alliance
- agrees that he is participating as an individual solely on behalf of himself, even if he is employed now, becomes employed later, or has a different employer later
- warrants that he holds the necessary rights to make the grants for all Contributions that he provides to the alliance
- has had all of his employers sign the
OpenAjax Alliance Employer Consent Form for Individual Members
- agrees that he will notify OpenAjax Alliance immediately whenever he is employed by a new company and indicate whether this new employer has also agreed to sign the
OpenAjax Alliance Employer Consent Form for Individual Members
The following are step-by-step instructions for individuals who wish to join the OpenAjax Alliance:
- Print out the OpenAjax Alliance Members Agreement (PDF format). Review, fill out all fields, and sign the Agreement.
- For each of your employers (if any), print out a copy of the
OpenAjax Alliance Employer Consent Form for Individual Members, and then have an appropriate authorized representative of that company fill out all fields and sign the consent form.
- Create a cover letter which includes the text below, fill out all fields, print and then sign:
Dear Jon,
I, [replace with your name], would like to apply for an individual membership in the OpenAjax Alliance. Currently, I am employed by [replace with list of employers or "no one", as appropriate]. Enclosed with this letter is a signed copy of the OpenAjax Alliance Members Agreement [if appropriate, "and a signed Employer Consent Form for each of my employers"]. I understand that I will be participating in OpenAjax Alliance as an individual solely on behalf of myself, even if I am employed now, become employed later, or have a different employer later, and I warrant that I am not participating on the request of or on behalf of any such employer. I warrant that I hold the rights necessary to all intellectual property for all Contributions that I will provide to the alliance. I agree to notify OpenAjax Alliance immediately whenever I am employed by a new company and notify OpenAjax Alliance whether this new employer has also agreed to sign the OpenAjax Alliance Employer Consent Form for Individual Members. I understand that if any of my employers, present or future, do not sign the OpenAjax Alliance Employer Consent Form for Individual Members, my membership in OpenAjax Alliance will be terminated.

- If you are associated with an Ajax project (for example, an open source project), provide that project's name, its home page URL and its mailing address (if appropriate).
- Indicate which committees you will join. Right now, we have the following committees:
- Provide textual information or appropriate URLs that will allow the Steering Committee to understand your background and role in the Ajax community

- Wait for notice of approval. If the Steering Committee approves your application for membership, you will receive an email welcoming you to the OpenAjax Alliance with orientation instructions. If not, we'll send you an email explaining the reasoning for the rejection of the application.
